Our Take
I’ve been tracking the Dell Chromebook 3100, and at $58.99, it’s positioned as one of the most affordable entry points into Chrome OS computing. With a 4.1-star rating from 1,962 buyers and ranking #8 in laptops, it’s clearly resonating with budget-conscious users.
What impressed me most is how Dell managed to pack decent performance into this price point. The 11.6-inch display at 1366×768 delivers surprisingly good clarity for basic tasks, while the Celeron N4020 processor handles Chrome OS efficiently. I appreciate that it includes 4GB RAM, which keeps multiple browser tabs running smoothly – something you can’t always expect at this price level.
The 16GB flash storage is obviously limiting, but it’s adequate if you’re primarily using cloud-based applications and Google services. Chrome OS helps here by being lightweight and cloud-focused.
However, you’ll definitely feel the storage constraints if you try downloading offline content or apps. The build quality, while functional, won’t wow anyone – this is clearly designed for basic productivity rather than heavy use.
For students or casual users needing web browsing, document editing, and streaming, it’s hard to argue with this value proposition at under $60.
