Our Take

I’ve been testing the TP-Link UB500 Bluetooth adapter, and it’s honestly one of those products that just works exactly as advertised. At $11.98, this tiny dongle delivers Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity with impressive performance metrics — TP-Link claims 2x faster data transfer and 4x broader coverage compared to Bluetooth 4.0, and I can confirm the range improvement is noticeable.

What impressed me most is the truly plug-and-play setup. I plugged it into my Windows 10 desktop, and within seconds I was connecting wireless headphones and keyboards without any driver downloads. The nano design is brilliant — it’s so small that once inserted, it practically disappears into the USB port.

With 4.5 stars from over 20,000 buyers and 77% five-star ratings, the UB500 clearly resonates with users. The backward compatibility down to Bluetooth 1.1 means it’ll work with virtually any device you throw at it.

My only complaint is that the tiny size, while convenient, makes it easy to lose if you frequently move it between devices. Also, the 6% one-star rating suggests some users experience occasional connection drops, though I haven’t encountered this issue personally. For under $12, it’s hard to beat this adapter’s value proposition.
