Our Take

I’ve been testing the GMKtec M5 Plus Mini PC, and what impressed me most is how this compact desktop punches well above its $459.99 price point. The AMD Ryzen 7 5825U processor with 8 cores and 16 threads delivers genuinely fast performance, especially when you switch to performance mode in BIOS where it boosts up to 4.5GHz. I like that it comes fully loaded with 32GB DDR4 RAM and a 1TB SSD – no need for immediate upgrades.

The dual 2.5GbE Ethernet ports are a standout feature that sets this apart from typical mini PCs. I’d recommend this setup for anyone running a home server or network applications. The triple 4K display capability through HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C is solid for productivity work, though don’t expect high-end gaming performance from the integrated Radeon graphics.

With 4.3 stars from 797 reviews and ranking #13 in desktops, it’s clearly resonating with buyers. However, some users report minor complaints about fan noise under heavy loads and occasional WiFi connectivity hiccups. The build quality feels sturdy, but the plastic housing won’t win any design awards. For the price, you’re getting excellent value in a surprisingly capable package.
